Meet Mukesh Ambani, the 13th Richest Man in the World

This year seems to be a good one for Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani as he jumped to the 13th spot in Forbes’ Billionaires list, according to Business Today India. This is a huge leap from the 19th spot in 2018 when has a net worth of $20.1 billion. Meanwhile, his 2019 ranking shows a net worth of $50 billion with a real-time net worth of $50.1 billion as of March 6.

Who is he?

According to Forbes profile of the Indian billionaire, Ambani has education in Bachelor of Science in Engineering and studied for some time at Stanford University. His source of wealth is oil and gas with Reliance Industries, which was established by his late father. Aside from this, the company also engaged in the telecom market when it launched Jio, a 4G phone service provider. Today, the telecom company has 280 million customers whilst Reliance Industries earns $60B in revenues.

At the age of 61, he has been listed in various lists released by Forbes including India’s Richest 2018 (ranked #1), Powerful People 2018 (Ranked #32) and Global Game Changers 2017. Moreover, his net worth over time is a whopping $29 billion.

The billionaire’s sibling, Anil Ambani is listed as 1349 in the 2019 list and was on the 887th spot in 2018 (he was 50th amongst India’s richest in 2018). Whilst he is the Chairman of Reliance Group, the source of his wealth is listed as diversified.
